I Built My Own Personal Finance App: Catatin Wan

From a Messy Spreadsheet to a Real Web App

It started simple: I just tracked income and expenses manually on my phone, then recapped everything into a spreadsheet every few days. It got messy fast, especially on busy days or whenever I forgot to log something right away.

That's when I thought, why not just build my own web app? So Catatin Wan was born, a personal finance app you can use straight from the browser, no install needed.

What Catatin Wan Can Do

Some of the features it has now:
- Transaction logging with categories and separate wallets/accounts
- AI features, can auto-detect transactions from chat or a receipt photo
- Split Bill, split a bill with friends without manual math, including tax and service charge
- Monthly insight, automatic income-expense recap for easier evaluation
- Bank Digital mode, dark mode, and pattern lock for privacy

Privacy: Your Data Stays on Your Device

All data is stored directly in your own browser (localStorage), so no server holds onto your financial data.

Try it Yourself

You can try it for free at catatinwan.web.app. If you want to use the AI features, you'll need to bring your own AI API key (Gemini or Groq), so usage and cost stay fully under your own control.

Still actively improving it bit by bit. If you have feedback or run into a bug, feel free to let me know.
