From Seo Writer to Local Seo Specialist
Eight months ago, I decided to leave my comfort zone. Before that, I worked as an SEO Writer. My focus was writing articles and optimizing content so it could compete in search results. Then I got the chance to become a Local SEO Specialist.
At first I thought, "SEO is still SEO." After I started, I realized Local SEO has its own challenges.
Learning the Fundamentals: Workflow, Gbp, and Keyword Research
Early on, the first hurdles were understanding the workflow, reading the SOP, learning Google Business Profile, and seeing how optimization runs from start to finish.
Keyword research was another challenge. I learned that choosing keywords is not only about search volume, but also about how potential customers look for a business and its services.
When I started optimizing businesses, I often hesitated. I worried the strategy might be wrong, or that changes could hurt the client's performance.
When Suspensions and Setbacks Hit
Then more challenges came. Some businesses suddenly dropped in performance. Some accounts got suspended. Some newly optimized profiles were asked by Google to verify again.
I still remember the first time I submitted an appeal for a suspended Business Profile. I read Google's guides again and again, checked every document, then waited for the review with a racing heart. Unfortunately, the first appeal was rejected.
From that I learned that not everything is in our control, but we can always try to offer the best solution.
Eight Months, Many Industries, One Lesson
Over these eight months I have worked with many types of businesses: clinics, restaurants, cafes, hotels, and B2B companies. Each business brings different challenges, and each challenge teaches something new.
Looking back at myself eight months ago, I am grateful I took the chance. I am also grateful for a team that shares knowledge, discusses openly, and helps when things get hard.
The journey is still long. But one thing I believe: every challenge faced today becomes preparation for later.
